Started reading Welcome to the Monkey House (Kurt Vonnegut, Jr.) today, with the intention of entering it into the index at Xenagia, but I find that fewer of the stories are genre stories than I remember. The only stories I clearly remember are "Harrison Bergeron," "Welcome to the Monkey House," and "All the King's Horses." It's been at least 15 years since I read them all. Since I best remember "Harrison Bergeron" and "Welcome to the Monkey House," both of which are science fiction, I remembered the book as being more genre than it is. Shannon says it's still worth putting in the index, since some of the stories are genre and Vonnegut is so well known. I should put in The Sirens of Titan, also, though I remember that book not at all. I read it when I was 10 or 11. I think there was a dog in it.

Started proofreading my terroir project today, and it has been edited within an inch of its life, so there's very little work for me to do. I was talking with Shannon about this, and I admitted that I almost preferred the previous project, which was barely edited at all, because I had more to do and felt like I was really contributing something. With this current project, I feel like they're paying me to just read.

Watched Catch Me If You Can on DVD tonight and enjoyed it. It was one of those rare movies that has a sense of humor I don't find stupid, and it made me laugh more than once. I thought Leonardo DiCaprio was good in it, but then I've been a bit of a fan since I saw him in What's Eating Gilbert Grape?

Tomorrow I'm off to Lisa's to watch the last of Kaleido Star, which hasn't impressed me. I'm too cynical, and it is too perky. We're going to watch Wolf's Rain next, which I'm looking forward to. I've always been somewhat interested in wolves, which is part of what appeals to me about the series.

Well, I'm off to read more Vonnegut.
