I read the first volume of Fables today, and I enjoyed it quite a bit. Shannon recommended it to me months ago -- possibly years ago -- but I never got around to reading it until now. It's definitely my sort of thing, since I've always been interested in fairy tales and their reimaginings. Of course, I immediately developed a preferred pairing. It was set up very blatantly, so I'm not coming up with it out of thin air, but those tend to be the pairings I prefer. Except for Spike/Xander, all my preferred pairings are set up by canon.

Jack/Sam (Stargate SG-1)
Inu-Yasha/Kagome (Inu-Yasha)
Brian/Justin (Queer As Folk)
Josh/Donna (The West Wing)
Apollo/Starbuck (Battlestar Galactica)
Veronica/Logan (Veronica Mars)

I don't have a preferred pairing on Lost, though I liked Charlie and Claire quite a bit. I like both Jack and Sawyer, so I could never really get 100% behind Sawyer/Kate. And I never liked Shannon, so it was difficult to care about Sayid/Shannon, no matter how much I like Sayid.

But, apart from the pairing thing (which really only popped up at the end), I enjoyed Fables. I enjoy the premise (fairy tale characters have been driven from their homes and had to take shelter in the "mundane" world) and think it's well-executed. I look forward to reading more.
