Dad having pain

I talked to my dad briefly this afternoon, and he sounded terrible. I knew immediately, just from the sound of his voice, that something was very wrong. He said he was on his way to Omaha (to the VA Hospital), because "they kept asking where it hurt" and then "they" told him to go to Omaha. He goes to Omaha for chemo, but this was different. This was clearly a special trip.

He didn't talk to me long (presumably, he was in the process of driving himself to Omaha, which worries me -- he implied that all his friends were too busy to take him), so I don't really know what's going on, but the little that he did say leads me to believe that he's having pain. I don't know how much, I don't know where, I don't know why, but he sounded truly terrible. I've never heard him sound like that.

I find myself worrying about another tumor. Or his bones. My aunt Kim told me that the doctor had said his cancer was likely to move into his liver or his bones next. I wonder if those cause pain.

He said he would call me tonight, but I'm sure he'll forget. He's got a lot going on, and he'll probably want to sleep early after the long drive when he's feeling bad. I'll call him again tomorrow.

In the meantime, I'll fret.
