dreams, insomnia, sleep

Last night I dreamt that the world was peopled with zombies that would kill and eat you if they realized you weren't one of them, and so I had to put on a "zombie" act, which meant not really interacting with other people. For example, if you said "please," or "thank you," or "excuse me," or anything else that showed respect/acknowledgment of the other person, then they would know you weren't a zombie, and they would chase you. So if someone gave you something, you had to just take it and go on your way. And I was finding this very difficult, and I kept slipping up and automatically saying things I wasn't supposed to say. And then having to run away. Luckily, I seemed to be relatively speedy, because none of the zombies ever caught me. It must be that zombie shuffle they do ... it isn't really very conducive to chasing down prey.

At some point, the zombies were nailing down all the houses and cars, attaching them to the ground with sturdy spikes so that nothing could move, and then removing all the doorknobs from the insides of the doors, so that no one could get out. I was inside a house when this was going on, hearing and feeling the jolting of the spikes going into the ground, and I was trying to figure out how to escape. I didn't feel scared or anything, just determined and a bit frustrated.

In other news, I had a breakthrough in my website design last night, when I realized that my entire concept was not working and I had to just toss it and start from scratch. Now I'm working on a completely new idea, and it's going really well. I'm quite happy with it so far.
