beyond your front door

Kauai 2010

I think I got sunburned on the top of my foot yesterday (I forgot to put sunscreen there), but it's already feeling better this afternoon. Yesterday my jeans kept rubbing it.

I somehow managed to bring not only one shirt too few, but also one pair of underwear too few. Doh! Yeah, I used to be able to count to 7, but apparently I now have trouble in that department. Of course, Shannon, too, managed to bring too few shirts, so I'm not alone.

Last night we all watched the Star Trek movie "Generations." Definitely not the best Star Trek movie I've seen. I liked the one with the Borg, as well as the recent re-boot.

I've been eating tons of fresh pineapple. My in-laws have a bunch of pineapples growing in their garden.

This evening at 5 p.m. we are going to church. (This is the one time Shannon and I go to church each year.) Gary (the FIL) will be "leading" ("not teaching") Sunday school at 4, so Shannon and will hang out in Koloa for an hour until it is time to join Gary for the service.

I think it's really good that we're here right now, even though it means we don't get to spend much time with Mary (she's in Taiwan for her father's funeral), because I think Gary would be very lonely here on his own. We keep him pretty busy, if only because he is constantly providing us with food!
