(no subject)

Returned to tai chi this morning for the first time since the surgery. It was nice to be back. I also rode the exercise bike and lifted weights, so I had a good work-out.

Finished reading Robin Hobb's Fool trilogy yesterday, and enjoyed it quite a bit. (Enough that the three books are now on my list of books to buy.) I moved on to Laurell K. Hamilton's latest Anita Blake book, which was a major step down on the quality scale, but I got it from the library, so it didn't cost me anything but time and brain cells. Next I think I'll read something non-genre. Maybe Louise Erdrich. Or maybe I'll read Ombria in Shadow, which I've been hoarding. It's one of very few Patricia McKillip books I haven't read, so I've been hesitant to finish it off. Or maybe Ellen Kushner's Swordspoint, which I've read before but don't really remember. I just bought a copy at Moe's the other day with the intention of rereading it.

My latest proofreading project came in today, so I'll start proofreading tomorrow. It's a book about women in Iraq since the occupation. I'm curious about what they'll have to say.

Our little corner store has re-opened after more than a year of being closed. It has new owners. (I think the old owners got tired of being robbed and so decided to sell.) I went in for the first time today and was disappointed to discover that their selection pretty much sucks (this is usually the case with such tiny stores, but I was really hoping for a fruit punch Sobe) and their prices are very high, higher than the old owners priced things. Little neighborhood stores like that are always expensive, but the old one wasn't bad. Ah well. I'll go there when I'm desperate for a drink or a candy bar, but I doubt I'll go there often.

I also got blood drawn today to try to figure out why I keep bruising so badly. Seriously. It looks like Shannon beats me. I get these dark bruises without even remembering bumping into anything. The phlebotomist told me to get more iron.

Book Meme

Gacked from mousme (and seen elsewhere).

The Big Read reckons that the average adult has only read 6 of the top 100 books they've printed. Well let's see which of this really arbitrary list I've read. :)

1) Look at the list and bold those you have read.
2) Italicise those you intend to read.
3) Underline the books you LOVE.

I found all the Dickens repellant, but was pleased that Ernest Hemingway didn't make the list at all. My two most loathed authors.
