The world through my cataract

I did a bit of fiddling with Photoshop & came up with a representation of what the world looks like through my left eye right now.

Here's a photo I posted in this journal a couple years ago, showing these weird pollarded trees on the UCB campus:

And here's a sort of idea of what things look like through the cataract right now:

It's hard to convey, so I'm not sure I've done so, but it'll give you an idea of what I mean about the "ghost images" and how they "overlay" each other and such. Everything in the world repeatedly overlays itself and everything else like this, and it all becomes a jumble. I chose a very clear, isolated image as my example here, because anything more complex ended up just looking like garbage once I'd doctored it up ... because anything more complex pretty much *does* look like garbage through my left eye right now.

Maybe this is what the world looks like to a housefly, with all their gazillions of eyeballs.
