The aftermath of bronchitis

Now that I'm coughing less and have no fever, I've been trying to start doing small amounts of normal stuff again, but I'm still ending up totally exhausted. For example, I had lunch with Lisa yesterday at Le Bateau Ivre (only a few blocks from my house), and we spent about 2 hours eating and chatting ... and I was worthless the rest of the day. I slept 3 or 4 hours in the afternoon and early evening, and was otherwise just knocked flat even when awake.

Today I was working on a holiday card that required a lot of very careful paper cutting (about 30 small pieces of precisely-cut paper), and I got about 90% finished with it before I had to set it aside for a few hours until I felt strong enough to complete it. Dude! Art exhausts me? Collage wears me out? Ridiculous!

Tomorrow I'm planning to go to CWC, and I had originally been planning to go for my usual amount of time (around 10:30 am to 3:00 pm), but after still being so tired today, I'm now planning to just go in the afternoon from 1-3. I'm hoping that won't be too much.

I feel like a wilting flower of the Victorian era, elegantly draped on my fainting couch and sighing that I'm just too weak to get up and do anything. I'm no wilting flower, and I'm sick (literally) and tired (literally) of feeling like one! (This icon, which I've had for a very long time, seems especially appropriate to this particular paragraph of this entry.)

And yet, I must admit, I've been coughing a fair amount this afternoon and evening, in addition to the wilting flowerness. Dagnubit! This cursèd illness will never leave me alone!

It took me a while to respond to this comment, since I've been incredibly busy catching up with everything now that I'm feeling more energetic (though yes, still tiring extremely easily), but I wanted to let you know that I like your way of looking at it. I'll work on seeing things that way, myself, though it isn't instinctive for me.
