Princeville, Kauai 2012: Photos

Anyone interested in Hawaii? Fancy hotels? Beautiful views? Behold!

St. Regis Hotel (Princeville, Kauai) main lobby with chandelier St. Regis Hotel (Princeville, Kauai) main lobby with chandelier The main lobby is huge, but it contains several separate sitting areas. This is one of them, with a dramatic rain/waterfall chandelier below a skylight.

In the center of the photo, you can see a glimpse of the Makana Terrace, where we had brunch. In the foreground, where you see a reflection of clouds, is a wide, smooth pool that forms part of a gentle fountain that stretches across the entire lobby, falling quietly into smaller pools here and there.

In the foreground are the dining tables, and the water in the middle ground is actually a fountain that is level with the floor. Elsewhere, out of sight in this photo, the water cascades quietly to other smooth pools like this one. A larger version of this same serene kind of fountain stretched across the width of the indoor lobby of the hotel.

Most of the tables are empty, because the terrace dining area ended brunch service before this photo was even taken. We got there just at the tail end of service.

At the end of the hallway, the glass wall/doors lead to a lanai with a panoramic view of Hanalei Bay and Bali Hai. The elevators lead to all floors of the hotel, of course, but a sequence of two elevators in turn also takes you right down onto the hotel's private beach.
