Shakshouka -- yum!

Lunch at Saul's (deli in North Berkeley) with Lisa today, and we both ordered shakshouka, a dish of egg poached in a sauce of tomatoes, chili peppers, onions, and spices (including cumin). It was soooo good! Very different from anything I had before, and I always like something new. The egg was perfect: white cooked, yolk runny. We had crusty bread to sop up the sauce and egg yolk, and crispy home fries, and a bit of salad to brighten things up. The sauce kept reminding me of chili, which I'm sure was because of the cumin, since that is one of the primary spices in most chili powders.

Someday, when I start cooking more often, I am going to cook this stuff, because I loved it loved it loved it!

The Wikipedia article points to some recipes, if you're interested.

In other news, I'm feeling exhausted, and I plan to relax my butt off tomorrow. Relaxation to the max! I'm not particularly talented at the art of taking it easy, but I'm working on it.
