I spent most of the day sleeping on the couch. Whenever I tried to do anything else -- any of the many things I would have preferred to be doing -- I just felt like I was going to fall down and start snoring, like my body and my brain were almost paralyzed.
I did manage to play a game of Dominion with Shannon in the afternoon, which was nice. He recently bought the new Prosperity expansion, and I hadn't yet gotten to play it. I found the feel quite different from the other Dominion expansions (and the original game), because there was much less focus on actions and more on money (which Shannon points out is the theme of the expansion). I'm a big fan of actions in Dominion, so I'm not sure how I feel about that, but it was still a lot of fun.
Then I took Shannon out to dinner at La Méditerrannée to celebrate the fact that the rain had stopped, and we ate excellent phyllo pastries and hummus with pita and levant sandwiches and all that jazz. Yum!
Then we came home and finished reading Gene Wolfe's Soldier of Sidon, to which I say, "Thank goodness!" I really didn't enjoy the "Soldier" books very much, so I will be happy to move on to something that interests me more. We're moving on to the next Harry Dresden book (we're on the 8th book in the series, I think: Proven Guilty), and those are always just brainless fun. It'll be a nice change.
Then we did our weekly Sunday housework, and I sorta dragged myself around the house, wanting nothing more than to fall asleep again, and got some stuff done. It felt good to be accomplishing something, but I felt like I was trying to do calculus while under the influence of a healthy dose of Percoset. Okay, so I never took calculus, so it probably wouldn't be any more difficult while drugged up, but you know what I mean.
