1993 and The X-Files

Watched VH-1's "I Love the 90s" episode for 1993 (and I must admit that I agree with webmacher that it's a little early to start loving the 90s, but what the hey) and once again it was Hal Sparks who made me laugh the most. It's interesting that he doesn't get a chance to be very funny in his role as Michael on Queer As Folk, because he completely cracks me up when he's just being himself.

Anyway, his funniest bit this time was his reenactment of The X-Files, using little Scully and Mulder action figures. It went something like this:
Mulder: My sister was abducted by aliens! [Scully moves closer to him] And I think that I might have been ... [Scully moves even closer]

Scully: Mulder, I'm the only one who really understands you...

[They lean in, faces almost touching]

[They jerk apart suddenly, looking around]

Scully: WHAT'S THAT?

Mulder: WHO'S THERE?

[Cue X-Files theme music as Mulder and Scully move further apart]
Kevin Smith (of Chasing Amy fame) described The X-Files as "Moonlighting ... with UFOs." Hee.

Yep. I still haven't seen the U.K. version, though I definitely plan to do so.

Heh. Funny.

A former friend of mine (we had severe issues, but her sense of humor wasn't one of them) used to point out that whenever David Duchovny wrote the script, there was somehow always at least one scene where Scully ended up saying, "Oh, Mulder! Why must you always be so handsome and profound and driven on your eternal quest for The Truth!" I think deep glances and gazes off into the distance were part of it too.
