Laurell K. Hamilton

Finished reading Obsidian Butterfly today. Now I can move on to the book after Laurell K. Hamilton's last good book. Hee.

I find it interesting that the quote on the next book's cover (the quote, by the way, is from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, which seems an indication of the narrowness of praise for this particular novel, given the fact that the entire Anita Blake series is actually set in/around St. Louis) ... anyway ... what was I saying? Oh yeah. The quote says, "Hamilton's sexiest book ... takes things to a whole new level." Hee. I just keep looking at that quote and admiring how vague it is. I particularly enjoy the ellipsis. I keep imagining the entire quote:
Hamilton's sexiest book finally degenerates her plotting to the flimsy veneer used for a cheesy porn movie. We thought the first few books were trash, but this novel takes things to a whole new level.

Hamilton's sexiest book seems to exist only to indulge the author's personal kinks. The hints at guy-on-guy action were exploitative in the previous few books, but this one takes things to a whole new level.

Hamilton's sexiest book is filled with her usual Mary Sue fantasies. Yes, we thought the heroine was unrealistically idealized before -- we really did -- but this time Hamilton takes things to a whole new level.
Yeah, I amuse myself with stuff like this. Gotta love the ellipses in book and movie reviews. Don't they just beg you to fill in the blanks?

Actually, despite my mockery, I'm looking forward to the book (titled Narcissus in Chains). I expect to see the return of many of the peripheral characters of whom I became even more fond while reading Blue Moon. Since the very first Anita Blake novel, I've been impressed with Laurell K. Hamilton's ability to write interesting peripheral characters. I tend to read for character more than plot, so maybe she'll continue to keep me happy.

I'm accustomed to giggling quietly when I read various stuff on the net, and sometimes posting LOL. I'm not accustomed to guffawing wildly. You rock!

Hee! I'm glad I'm not the only one amused by such things. I always find ellipses fertile ground for the imagination. :)
